Aquatics Team Lead
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Team Lead is responsible for overseeing aquatic programming, performance evaluations, and daily staff supervision. In addition the Team Lead assists with day to day functions such as administrative tasks, event planning and operation, and communicating effectively and professionally with team members and patrons.
Regular working hours are daytime Monday to Friday but may include some evening or weekend work occasionally.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee swimming lesson programs - providing swimming instructors with leadership, mentorship, guidance and feedback.
- Supervise swimming lessons and lifeguards weekdays on the pool deck.
- Leading monthly staff training sessions.
- Assist Aquatics Director with administrative tasks such as payroll, hiring, and monthly invoicing of aquatic rentals.
- In the absence of the Aquatics Director, the Team Lead will lead in emergency situations, and use critical thinking skills to ensure a professional manner when addressing concerns with the public.
- Work in conjunction with all CHP departments.
- When necessary Team Lead will be responsible for coverage of unexpected absences.
- Oversee all leadership courses, ensuring the meeting Lifesaving Nova Scotia standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area to uphold company standards.
- Assist in scheduling shifts and managing team assignments for optimal coverage.
Position Requirements:
- 3 years of supervisory experience in the aquatic setting.
- National Lifesaving, Intermediate Workplace First Aid and Airway Management certification.
- Swim for Life Instructor certification.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Sheets.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills in high stress situations.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage time effectively.
- Clear Child Abuse Register Check
- Current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Instructor Trainer Certification
- National Lifeguard Instructor Certification
- WHMIS
- Lifesaving Instructor, First Aid Instructor and Examiner Certification

Hours:
- Availability weekdays and weekends day shift
- 30-40 hours per week.
Compensation:
Dependent on level of experience and education compensation will range from $17.00 - $18.50 an hour.
