Covid-19 Updates

Cole Harbour Place Update January 5, 2022

Beginning Monday January 10, 2022 we will return to our regular building hours and schedule. We will offer public swims, skates and fitness classes again. Numbers of participants for these activities will be reduced to comply with the current Provincial Guidelines. There is also a chance that these programs may be cancelled with short notice. Should this happen we will do our best to contact everyone signed up with as much notice as possible.

Pre Booking for activities is still required, and all activities can be found here

Masking, physical distancing and Proof of Vaccination will also still be in place.

Winter 2022 Programs

Registered Programs for youth and children such as swim lessons, and recreational program will have a delayed start given the current Covid-19 situation. Programs will now begin Saturday February 12, 2022 at the earliest (depending on the day of the week). Individuals registered will be contacted with their new start date. If the change in start date does not work, people are welcome to give us a call and we can unenroll you and refund your payment.

Our Registered Adult Fitness Classes will run as scheduled as they are designed to allow everyone to physical distance.

Dartmouth Dance Academy will announce their Winter Session start date in the near future, and those registered will be contacted directly.

 


Cole Harbour Place Re-opening January 4, 2022

On January 4, 2022 we will reopen at 7am with reduced hours and services until at least January 12, 2022, we will have additional information on Janury 7, 2022 on activities and programs after January 12, 2022.

January 4th, 2022- January 12, 2022 (inclusive) our hours will be 7am-7pm Monday- Friday and 8am-6pm on Saturdays and Sundays

Activity Capacities:

  • Between January 4, until at least January 12, 2022 this time there will be no fitness classes, no public skates, no family, open or parent and tot swims.
  • The fitness centre, and TRX area will be open. Squash courts will be open and we will be offering lane swims each day. Bookings for all available activities will be required during this time. Masking, physical distancing and Proof of Vaccination will also still be in place.
  • Available Activities after January 12, 2022 will be announced by January 7, 2022.

Winter 2022 Programs:

  • Registered programs for the new year, including Dartmouth Dance programs, will have a later start date that will be announced by January 7, 2022.

If you are a member here is what this means for you:

  • If you have a Paid in Full membership it will be extended for a week to account for the closure that happened in December.
  • If you have a monthly membership your payment in January will be adjusted to reflect the time that we are closed. Payments will still come out as per your payment schedule, but the January payment will be adjusted.
  • Should you wish to pause your membership at this time with the current restrictions please contact our front desk at 902-464-5100 and they will be able to assist you. 

Cole Harbour Place Schedule Adjustments and Closure December 2021

Yesterday afternoon, Public Health announced further restrictions effective as of 6am, December 22nd, 2021 until at least January 12th, 2022 ( Press Release). Among the restrictions, is a lower capacity limit of 50 per cent with physical distancing for recreation facilities.

Given this announcement Cole Harbour Place will be closing December 23, 2021 at 9pm and re-opening January 4, 2022 at 7am. This closure is necessary due to staffing levels with current exposures, and isolation requirements from a number of our staff. The areans remain open for ice rentals.

Exposure Notices: 

Public Health no longer contacts us directly regarding potential exposures within our facility and are asking individuals that receive a positive PCR test to inform their close contacts directly. With this in mind, we’re implementing a Covid-19 Exposure section on our website to include Public Health’s instructions as they relate to informing us if you’ve tested positive and visited CHP recently. Please note, we will no longer email out potential exposure notices, but will continue to post them to our website and within the facility.

Friendly Reminders

Thank you to everyone that continues to follow the safety protocols in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19. To keep it up, don’t forget to:

  • Wear a mask when not exercising – This includes but not limited to: While moving from machine to machine; while heading to and from your lane/court/fitness class square; while in the hallways, washrooms and change rooms; and while talking to other members/visitors and staff;
  • Arrive no earlier than 10mins prior to your activity time slot, and have your proof of vaccination and proof of identification ready for the check-in process;
  • Practice physical distancing;
  • Wash your hands and use sanitizer often;
  • Stay home if you’re not feeling well;
  • Keep up to date on the latest Public Health information.

We appreciate everyone’s continued support throughout this pandemic, and we hope to be able to once again open things up once restrictions are eased in the new year.


Cole Harbour Place Additional Restrictions December 2021

Beginning December 17, 2021

With the new restrictions announced Monday December 13, 2021 ( https://novascotia.ca/news/release/?id=20211213007) we have to put some additional measure back in place to ensure everyone’s safety and to ensure that we are following public health guidelines.

Masks are encouraged to be worn at all times when possible. We are also asking everyone to physical distance the 6 feet between people within the building, and changerooms.

No food and drink will be permitted within the building (except water bottles while being active)

Booking activities

  • Bookings for activities will be coming back for all programs starting on Friday December 17, 2021. This includes the fitness centre, fitness classes, pool and public skates.
  • Bookings will ensure that we can physical distance people in all activities within the building.
  • Once physical distancing is no longer required we will phase out bookings again.
  • Prices, and details about online bookings can all be found here.

Swim Lessons

  • All swim lessons are cancelled for the remainder of the term, credits will be put on accounts for all missed classes.

Recreation Programs

  • Freaky Friday is cancelled for the remainder of this year, and credits will be put on accounts for those who were registered.
  • All Saturday programs will continue to run this session until they are finished.

Registered Fitness Classes

  • All registered fitness programs will continue to run this session until they are finished.

Rentals

  • Proof of vaccination is required for all people and each rental.
  • All rentals within the building are considered formal rentals, and physical distancing and masking is required for all events within the building.
  • Some rentals will be cancelled if we do not have the space for them to physical distance. We will be in contact with these people directly.

Arenas

  • Masks MUST be worn at all time by spectators, and they can have no food and drink.
  • Masks MUST be worn at all time by players, officials and coaches unless on the ice.
  • Arena rentals will be permitted access to the rink 30 minutes before their booking, and asked to leave as soon as possible after.
  • Spectators are only permitted entrance to the arenas 5 minutes before booked ice time.
  • Teams and groups must check Proof of Vaccine outside as the rink lobby does not allow for adequate physical distancing.
  • No food and drink permitted.
  • No tournaments are permitted.
  • Spectator Limits for ice sports are:

Scotia 1: 85 people

Scotia 2: 35 people

Services & Amenities

  • People will need to social distance in the change rooms.
  • The saunas will remain closed for now.
  • No spectators for swimming and public skates.

Proof of Vaccination

  • All users 12 years old and older will be required to show proof of vaccination at the door before entering. We will not be storing any medical information.
  • Everyone must be fully vaccinated. You are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after your 2nd vaccine.
  • Proof can be provided with a picture of your vaccination record or a physical card.
  • In addition to Proof of Vaccine, you will also need to show photo identification. Approved identification includes:
    • Passport
    • Drivers License
    • Government-issued ID card
    • Health card
    • Birth certificate
    • Student card
    • Secure Certificate of Indian Status
  • Users who are younger than 12 years old and cannot be vaccinated do not need to show proof of vaccination. However, when they are escorted to a program or activity by a guardian, those who are over 12 years old will need to show proof of full vaccination.
  • ALL children’s programs with children under the age of 12 do need to have the children escorted to the program by a fully vaccinated guardian and not just dropped at the door.
  • Rental groups are to ensure that all people connected with their rental and entering the building provide proof of full vaccination before being permitted entry into the building.
  • People with a valid medical reason that prevents vaccination can get an exception letter from their physician or nurse practitioner to show instead of proof of full vaccination.
  • A small number of Nova Scotians who participated in COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials have already been sent an exception letter to show instead of proof of full vaccination, and this will be accepted as proof of vaccine
  • Children who turned 12 between January 1 and October 4 this year will have until Dec. 31 to attend events and activities while they get vaccinated; children who turn 12 after October 4 will have three months from their birthday to get vaccinated and be able to provide proof.
  • Youth who are 13 to 18 years old and have proof that they received one dose of vaccine can participate in sport, recreation, arts and culture programming and have until October 26 to get their second dose.
  • We do have tenants who provide essential services within our building. They will be able to access those essential services without having to provide proof of vaccination.

Age limits within the building

In order to ensure children and youth are not unattended within the building unnecessarily we are implementing the following age limits for programs and activities:

  • ALL children under the age of 12 in a registered program (swim lessons, recreational programs, etc) must be accommodated by a fully vaccinated parent or guardian to the program and cannot be dropped at the front door.
  • Children who are 8 and older are permitted to go into the pool by themselves, but those between the ages of 8-12 must have a fully vaccinated parent or guardian who remains in eyesight of them for the duration of the swim.
  • Children under the age of 8 must have a fully vaccinated parent or guardian within arms reach while in the pool.

Staying Healthy

  • Masks remain mandatory while inside. They can be removed while actively exercising, but people do need to wear them while not engaged in active exercise.
  • Please continue to practice good hygiene during this time, like wiping down your equipment, washing your hands frequently, and staying home when feeling sick.
  • Hand sanitizer stations will continue to be provided throughout the facility for use prior to entering activity spaces and change rooms/washrooms, and located near high-touch surfaces like stair railings.
  • Plexiglass will remain at the Front Desk.
  • Cleaning routines throughout the day will adapt to changes in activity/amenity availability and usage to ensure proper disinfecting and sanitation at all times.
  • When the building is closed overnight, all areas will continue to be disinfected using sprayers to allow for longer dwell time including equipment, floors, walls, and washrooms.

Facility Access

  • Our entrances will remain as our pedway doors, and clock entrance doors for access to the building;
  • CHP Members will need to book in advance for all activities..
  • We ask that people be patient with us and arrive for their activity early as wait times to enter the building with Vaccination checks may cause a delay. Please have proof of vaccination ready to show security upon your entry.

Winter Hours

Our doors will not open until the below opening time. There will be no early access to the building while we are checking for proof of vaccination.
