COVID-19 closure ‐ November 24, 2020
Facility closed for 2 weeks

As per the announcement today by the Provincial Government fitness facilites are mandated to close as of midnight November 25, 2020. In an abundance of caution we will be closing Cole Harbour Place for at least 2 weeks as of midnight tonight (November 24, 2020). The potential reopening date is December 10, 2020 pending goverment approval.

We will post additional information later this week in regards to memberships and credits and refunds for programs. No one will be required to pay for anything that they did not receive though. Please be patient with us as we work through the details.

We will have more updates later this week here and on our social media.

As always, the health and safety of our members, users and staff is our first priority. To support this priority during the COVID-19 pandemic, additional measures and changes in services are required. Our reopening plan follows the current advice of Public Health experts, mandated legislation and takes into consideration best practices from similar facilities and sports organizations in Canada and internationally.

This section of our website explains what to expect at CHP as we reopen in stages. Please keep in mind that public health information and provincial directives can change quickly. We will make every effort to update our website as fast as possible as we adapt to these changes.

Return to Play Plan

Our plan follows the advice of Public Health experts, mandated legislation and take into consideration best practices from similar facilities and sports organizations in Canada and internationally. Specifically this means that we will be supporting the following:

  • Enforcement of physical distancing (2 metres)
  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting, especially of high touch surfaces
  • Heightened hygiene practices for both staff and members/users
  • Protective equipment
  • Health screening protocols
  • Modifications to availability of amenities, schedules and facility hours of operation to support reopening in stages
  • Pre-booking to support access control and gathering restrictions

COVID-19 in the community ‐ November 17, 2020

Cancelled classes this week

As most have heard there have been two positive cases within the school system in the nearby area. Now more than ever it is so important to follow the guidelines sent out from Public Health to help protect ourselves against COVID‐19. We are committed to the health and safety of all our members, users and staff, and want to ensure that we are doing all we can to keep everyone safe.

In order to allow public health time to complete contact tracing we are cancelling swimming lessons and dance classes this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. These classes will be made up at the end of the session so that everyone will still receive all of their classes. All classes will resume on Friday. We will be contacting everyone registered to let them know about this change.

We are asking that everyone continues to follow public health guidelines and pay extra attention to the following:

  • Do not come to the building if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, or feel unwell;
  • Do not come to the building if you have travelled outside the Atlantic bubble within the past 14 days;
  • Do not come to the building if you are waiting for results for a COVID-19 test, or have been in close contact with anyone else awaiting results of a COVID-19 test; and
  • Do not come to the building if you have been told to isolate.

As part of our current protocols, we have specified times where we are closing to do a thorough cleaning throughout the day, as well as having a full building deep clean done each night. We also address all high touch surface areas throughout the facility.

We remain committed to providing the safest space possible for the physical and mental health of our community. We continue to follow Public Health guidelines and will make any adjustments necessary to our protocols and reopening stages.

Masks are mandatory beginning Friday July 31, 2020 for all people entering the building as per Public Health Guidelines - https://novascotia.ca/news/release/?id=20200724004

  • People with a valid medical reason for not wearing a mask are exempt.
  • Schools, daycares and day camps continue to follow their reopening plans.

Masks must be put on by people before entering the facility. If you do not have a mask on, staff at the door will remind you that you need to be wearing one to enter the building and you may be refused entry. Masks must be worn everywhere around the facility except for when you are participating in your activity.
